Curatorial Statement
The artists selected in the present edition of RAKFAF, like the pearl seekers who once inhabited Al Jazeera Al Hamra Heritage Village, where their works are exhibited today, invite us to observe their discoveries born from the elements of nature.
In this enchanting site carved out of clay, sand, and coral, the visitor is invited to explore a place that springs to life again, thanks to the interaction with the works of artists from all over the world.
The perception of nature around us always starts from a journey that begins inside of ourselves. In the case of those who transform it into artistic forms, a personal sensibility is shared with us to stimulate our curiosity and show us the many possibilities of representing it.
The beauty of nature is that it is so varied, and even in the desert, we can find an infinity of elements that connect us to it, whether they be elements anchored in our roots or moments of well-being that we experience during an instant of union with the landscape that surrounds us.
