These grants provide modest start-up funding for filmmakers to create short documentaries and films on topics relevant to the UAE and broader Gulf Region. In addition, they seek to support emerging talent in the local film industry while sharing stories that provide unique insights into the region. Films produced through the grant are screened at the Ras Al Khaimah Fine Arts Festival the following year. The 2021 submission cycle will be open in April 2021.
The program provides opportunities for visiting local and international artists to produce new works and engage in cultural exchange with the Ras Al Khaimah community. Applications are welcome from all art media, and residencies are based in the Al Qasimi Foundation’s Studio & Gallery space. Visiting artists are encouraged to draw inspiration from the Emirates as they work on personal projects and to share their talents with the local community by leading art workshops and classes. For longer residencies, the experience also includes the potential to hold an exhibition in the Studio & Gallery. The 2021 submission cycle will be open in April 2021.
Serving as a hub for creativity in Ras Al Khaimah, the Al Qasimi Foundation’s Studio & Gallery was designed to foster artistic and cultural dialogue, nurture emerging talent, and highlight the importance of the arts in personal and community development. The multi-functional space hosts a variety of programs and activities throughout the year, including exhibitions, artist residencies, community workshops, and events.
